Concerned about food and water? Do not worry, things will be fine. Here are some tips.

Bring a travel kettle to boil tap water to wash your kids sippy cups, plastic cutlery etc. Put a small amount of dish soap in a Tupperware dish and use that for soap.

Even if your hotel room tap water says it is drinkable do not drink it. Sometimes just a change in water even safe water can send toddlers stomachs/bowels for a turn. Therefore brush and rinse your teeth and tooth brushes with bottled water too. Just keep getting extra bottles in your mini fridge.

Bring lots of their favorite dry snacks from home for munching in the hotel room and by the pool or beach.

Eat fruit that has to be peeled. For example bananas, pineapple, mangoes, oranges etc.

It can be nerve racking experience if your toddler is a fussy eater. Do not worry; they will manage fine on fruit, crackers, toast, pancakes, yogurt, ice cream, French fries, muffins, hot dogs and pizza; not ideal but it is only for seven days.

Bring along a large pack of juice drink boxes, the single serving applesauce and mini Oreos and mini cereal bars.

Milk tastes a bit different in Mexico, so your child may not like it. All inclusive resorts always have fresh juices and if you bring your drink boxes you will have those too.

Bring along lots of extra baby face cloths as you go through them very fast. You only get a couple of face cloths in your room.

If you are worried about high chairs or other eating surfaces bring along a pack of bacterial wipes.

Bring the rubber bath mat from your tub to stop slipping in the shower or tub at the hotel.

Bring a large mesh laundry bag as you will have a fair amount of damp laundry and it can get smelly or moldy. if you have a balcony keep the bag outside.

If you do not have walky talkies consider getting a set. It will make your life much easier when you need to locate each other if one of you is in the room and the other at the pool etc.

Bring many more diapers then you think. You would need them as changes in food bring changes in bowel movements and frequency of them.

For fun bring small bucket and shovel for sand and collecting sea shells, inflatable water toy and some books and items for in the room, a portable DVD player and childs favorite DVDs for the flight and for in the room.

A small medical kit is very helpful should children become ill when traveling. The kit should contain medications for illnesses that children experience at home and for potential travel-related illnesses, and it should contain the telephone numbers of all the childrens health-care providers. Choosing a destination where there is no ready way of communicating with competent medical professionals adds an element of risk to the trip.

A typical medical kit should include the following.

Medications that the child has used in the past year
Antiseptic wipes, thermometer, gauze bandages
Insect repellents and sunscreens
Packets of oral rehydrating solutions
Antibacterial soap
An antibiotic for general use or for diarrhea. Azithromycin, cefixime
An antihistamine. Benadryl
Antibiotic and antifungal ointment
Acetaminophen
Ibuprofen
Hydrocortisone ointment
Syrup of ipecac
Malaria prophylaxis and standby treatment, as required by itinerary.

Many people are concerned about moving their child from their crib to a toddler bed too soon or too late. There are some general guidelines but it really comes down to each individual child. While age and size can help provide some indicators much of it depends on the childs mental and emotional development as to wether they are ready to handle this dramatic change in their life.

If the child is starting to climb out of the crib then you definitely need to start the process of moving him/her from the crib into a toddler bed. There is too great of a risk that the child can fall and injure themselves while climbing out of the bed.

If your child is three feet tall or taller you should probably move them out of the crib because they are just getting too large for most cribs. Any time you feel the child is too big, or active for their crib you can move them. If the child has started potty training they may need to be in a bed to allow them to get up and use the bathroom as needed.

Most children can be safely moved to a toddler bed anywhere from 18 months to 3.5 years old. Many child experts recommend that you wait until the child is closer to 3 before moving them. This is a big change for most children, they are giving up their familiar and comfortable crib. This can make it a very stressful situation for the child, if it seems to be causing undue stress for your little one you are certainly better off to hold off and wait a little longer before moving the child.

If your toddler is climbing out of their crib yet resists being moved to a toddler bed you do have some alternatives. You could install a crib tent on the crib. This is a framework covered with a mesh like cloth that appears very similar to the popular dome tents. This mounts on the top of the rails of the crib and fully encloses it to keep the baby from climbing out of the crib and possibly injuring themself.

Whenever you do decide to move the child try to get them excited about it and carefully monitor how they are reacting to the change. There are a variety of things you can do to try to ease the transition for them.

The most important thing about cleaning away after potty accidents is that you don’t see it as only your responsibility, involve your child as much as possible. This way they will be able to see for themselves the consequences of their actions. This isn’t about punishing them but rather showing them how to take responsibility for themselves, which after all is the point of training them to use the potty. So don’t just take care of the cleaning because it’s faster and simpler if you do it, instead teach them what to do and let them play a part in fixing things. How much they will be able to do obviously depends on how old they are so you will need to decide for yourself what you feel is an appropriate task to give them. However, you might be amazed at what they can take care of themselves given the right support and encouragement.

The other benefit of getting your child involved in cleaning is that they learn that they need to be responsible for any mess they make. For example, it is never to early to start teaching boys to wipe up any spills if they happen to miss the bowl!

Cleaning up urine
The main thing is to get to it as soon as possible to avoid any accidents, particularly if it is on a hard floor. Use paper towels to clean the area (paper towels are better than toilet paper because they don’t fall apart dropping any unhygienic scraps in their wake). Then spray water over the area and wipe once more (you might like to keep a water bottle with a nozzle somewhere handy just for this purpose).

If damage is on carpet, then use paper towels to blot the area until it as dry as possible. Don’t rub as that will only destroy the fibres and embed the stain deeper in the pile. Once again use your spray bottle of water to rinse the area and then blot again to remove any remaining liquid.

A few drops of tea tree oil is not only a great antiseptic but is also a good way to mask any lingering odors. Alternatively if you don’t like the aroma of tea tree you can buy a commercial smell remover which will do the same thing.

Cleaning up after a bowel accident
On hard floors follow the same process as for cleaning urine. However, you may want to use toilet paper to scoop up the majority of the damage and flush it down the toilet. Then use towels for the clean up as per above.

On carpet it is a little more difficult. But once again use toilet paper to take away most of it. If the bowel movement is loose or runny then you will need to clean it up as best you can by using paper towels to gently blot the area and then reach for the foam carpet cleaner and follow the directions on the can. If you’d prefer not to use chemicals where your children are likely to play then you can try sponging the area using a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water.

Of course, there are many stain removing products around that can help with toileting accidents but its better to stick with water if you are including your child in the process and then either you or another adult can follow up with something to remove the odor.

Toddlers! Toddlers! Toddlers are sooo cute. This stage of life is known to be the most important. During the first three years of life, children grow quickly and become mobile, learn language, begin to understand how the world works and form social relationship.

Parenting a toddler is very crucial. It is one of the hardest when it comes to parenting. It entails different kind of responsibility and commitment.

During their children’s toddler stage, parents are often faced with new problems and issues. These make them confront themselves to make sure that they are in the right track in parenting. The following are some tips and advices in parenting toddlers.

Ensure nutrition basics.

As your toddler gets off baby food and start eating more and more regular table food, you can expect his diet to look just like the rest of the family’s diet. That means three meals a day and a couple of healthy snacks.

Ensure safety.

Childproof your home for toddler safety. Keeping toddler’s safety is a big part of the job of parents. However, it can be tricky to balance a young child’s desire to explore everywhere and everything with a parent’s need to keep the child safe. Parents should know that toddlers often forget the rules about safety and scolding them can make the forbidden item and place seem even more attractive. Childproofing is not substitute for parental supervision; it substantially reduces the likelihood of injury.

Discipline toddlers.

Toddler discipline is a difficult task for parents. Parents need to set limits and provide structure to create an atmosphere in the home that makes these limits easier to respect. One of the behavioral tasks that toddlers undergo is looking and testing for boundaries. As such, it is important that they clearly know where these boundaries lie.

Toddlers must also learn that there is consistency in the way that these boundaries are handled when they cross the boundaries. When you first implement structure, you can expect a lot of testing, crying and often an increase in misbehaviors, as they will be testing your limits.

Discipline is needed on a healthy relationship between parent and child. To know how to discipline your child, you must first know first your child. Build and strengthen this connection between you and your child and this will lay the foundation for discipline.

Set activities for your toddler.

There are plenty of activities for toddler that you can do with your child by using simple household items. Every toddler is an active learner. With his newfound ability to walk around, he is in a completely new relationship with the world and can explore new territory like an old world adventurer.

Through the toddler’s falls, bumps and as well as his triumphs and discoveries, he is learning about how the world works and also about how his own emerging self can help it work even better.

Set potty trainings.

Toddlers are ready to begin potty trainings as early as eighteen months, while others don’t begin until they are two years old or older. And while there are many different potty training methods, one thing is clear, starting too early or pushing your child to become potty trained when they are not ready doesn’t work. So develop a plan on how you want to potty trained you r child and then wait for signs for readiness.

Temper tantrums.

Temper tantrums are another universal part of the life of a toddler, since they can get frustrated easily and cannot express what they need or want very well. While they are something that is to be expected, that does not mean that you cant take the steps to try to make them happen less often.

Most importantly, try to anticipate tantrums, distract your child before one erupts and keep in mind that most toddlers cannot be easily calmed down once a tantrum starts, although you should pick up your child id you think they will hurt themselves.

With these tips and advices, it will make toddler parenting easier and more meaningful. Toddler parenting is really hard and tough. The most important thing is the patience and the love for your toddler.
